Affecting Other - Hosting Infrastructure
As you may be aware, a number of major hardware security vulnerabilities have been identified in Intel and AMD based processors by Google's Project Zero team. These vulnerabilities potentially affect billions of devices (PCs, Macs, laptops, phones & servers).
Since the announcement, we have been actively monitoring the situation alongside our software vendors to ensure that all necessary action is taken to protect our hosting infrastructure. Due to the severity of the situation, it's likely we'll need to reboot the large majority of our infrastructure to apply the software patches released by the vendors involved. We'll try to provide as much notice as possible if infrastructure reboots are required but we would strongly recommend monitoring our network status page until the situation has been fully contained as the notice period could be limited.
Thank you for your patience and understanding whilst we handle this situation. If you have any questions or concerns, please don't hesitate to get in touch.
We'll post updates to this status page as we progress, thank you for your patience and understanding.
Update 05/01/2018 @ 21:20 - We're approximately 50% through tonight's work. Reboots have been completed for our Standard, Reseller and Hybrid hosting servers and we're now proceeding with rebooting our virtualisation & managed hosting infrastructure.
Affecting System - DNS Cluster
Expected downtime: None
We'll be performing essential maintenance to our primary name server on Friday 6th of November at 22:00 GMT. No downtime is expected, but services using our nameservers (ns9.spreadyourweb.com & ns10.spreadyourweb.com) may be slower to respond.
If you have any questions or concerns, please don't hesitate to get in touch and we'll be happy to help.
